Explosions at Brussels Airport – Service Interruptions

March, 22 2016

This morning two explosions occurred in the departures area of Zaventem airport in Brussels. Meanwhile the airport is being evacuated and flights to and from Brussels have been cancelled or re-routed.

GEODIS customers who have shipments going via Brussels will experience cargo flow interruptions due to this incident. Our personnel are working closely with local authorities to evaluate the best mitigation solution.

Update - 03.28.16

Following the recent development of the situation in Brussels regarding the bombing incident, we would like to confirm that all of our employees are safe and that the cargo operations in Brussels airport resumes its normal operations. Due to the backlog, some delays can be expected. Our local staff can be reached as usual for any assistance.

Update - 04.04.16

Brussels Airport is resuming its normal operations after the first passenger flight departed from the airport on Sunday 3rd April, 12 days after terrorists destroyed parts of its departure hall and killed 16 people. Also the backlogs of cargoes are being cleared out. Belgium's main airport aims to return to full capacity before the start of summer by the end of June or early July. The airport had not handled passenger flights since the attacked occured.
